By town instead

Or search by town

64 Tennessee towns have their own page, measuring distance from the town rather than the county line. The nearest water to you is often across a county border.

Common questions

Questions about the county pages

Why does every Tennessee county get a page, even the ones with no lake?

Because for a county like Macon, Crockett or Gibson there is very little public water, and that is worth saying. Those pages list what does exist and then point at the nearest real fishing, usually one or two counties over.

Where do the access point counts come from?

From the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s public access database, which covers boat ramps, fishing piers, paddle launches, marinas and designated bank fishing sites. Each listing keeps the owner TWRA records for it, so you can tell a state ramp from a private marina.

Are all the listed access points free?

No. Most TWRA and TVA ramps are free. Corps of Engineers sites, state park ramps and marinas often charge a launch or parking fee, and a few are members only. The owner shown on each listing is the best guide to which you are dealing with.

What is a grand division?

Tennessee is legally split into three: East, Middle and West. It is not just geography, it decides which TWRA region sets your seasons and limits, and the three fish completely differently.

Should I use the county page or the town page?

The county page if you already know the water you want. The town page if you just want the closest fishing to where you are, because it measures from the town and ignores county lines.

How current is this?

Access data was pulled from TWRA records in 2026 and the record fish list reflects the February 2026 largemouth record from Nickajack. Ramps still close for repairs without notice, so call ahead for a long drive.
