Tennessee Winter Trout Stocking 2026 to 2027: Every Pond and Park

Each winter the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency stocks rainbow trout into city park ponds, small lakes and a few creeks that are too warm to hold trout in summer. The fish go in from late fall through February, close to towns, so they are some of the easiest trout in the state to reach from the bank. TWRA’s schedule lists 42 winter stocking sites for the 2026 to 2027 season, and 34 of them already show a target month.

TWRA posts winter stockings as a month (“TBD 12/2026”) until the truck date is set, then fills in the exact day. Last season’s dates in the right-hand column show the usual timing at each site.

West Tennessee (Region 1): 14 winter stocking sites

Middle Tennessee (Region 2): 17 winter stocking sites

Cumberland Plateau (Region 3): 6 winter stocking sites

East Tennessee (Region 4): 5 winter stocking sites

Before you go

• A Tennessee fishing licence is required, and keeping trout needs the trout privilege on top of it. Prices and the rules are on the licence and limits page.
• Freshly stocked trout bite best in the first few days. Small spinners, PowerBait, wax worms and small jigs all work from the bank.
• The trout stocking page updates from TWRA’s schedule, with exact dates as they are posted and recent stockings statewide.
